About Me
I see beneath life's surfaces to the deeper currents that shape our journeys. I amdedicated to Narrative Therapy as a means of re-authoring who we are and who we can be. 'The person is not the 'problem', the 'problem is the problem'.
The focus on the person as the authority of their own life and subjectivity is what resonates with me. An exterior system, no matter how carefully constructed or researched cannot replace an individual’s potential to heal from their own resources. To me Narrative Therapy offers the depth that is missing in other therapeutic approaches.

Specializing in Re-Authoring the Self, separating the 'problem' from the person.
Trauma
Counselling
Family & Relationships
Trauma comes in many shapes and can leave scars that incur post traumatic stress. I can show you how to recognise triggers before they come, manage them and turn them around so that you are in control and not the fear.
Counselling in narrative therapy is combined with psycho-social recovery. As such my approach is again to help you recognise and celebrate your own learned skills, especially those skills you’ve learned in dark times (you wouldn’t be here now if you had not got out of them). Your own skills will be reshaped and developed in the positive light of rebuilding a fresh identity.
Family and relationships are at the core of our support system. Often through rough times these relationships have suffered but we can work with avenues to reconnect, regain trust and restore loving relationships. Then, knowing how to maintain the trust and show your renewed strength and independence, your life will blossom. I am especially experienced in working with young people who have found themselves living without shelter (I do not use the word homeless), please see my project work on this.
Animal Assisted Therapy
Attachment Therapy
Supervision
Animals love unconditionally. Judgement from others is often the hardest thing to bear when we’re trying to turn our life around. I am passionate about this approach and have seen wonderful results across all ages. It can start with visiting animals, playing or working with them, then when you’re ready to take on the responsibility of your own pet, you will have love in your life 24/7.
Attachment is at the heart of childhood pain. Whether it’s loss or betrayal, it can linger through life and affect all our relationships adversely. Once we’ve identified the heart of the attachment, we’ll be able to work with filling the gaps in a way that does not involve pain. Narrative therapy offers opportunities for sharing and witnessing so that you do not feel alone with loss. As you rebuild your self, you’ll be able to recognise triggers, and understand yourself as well as others more fully. Narrative therapy gives you the resources to forgive and be forgiven.
Supervising counsellors, mental health support workers, other narrative therapists, PACFA and members of ACA and is something I enjoy doing and find a particularly fulfilling part of my work. Vicarious trauma is always just a blink away in our work so it is absolutely essential to have someone to debrief with and work through the issues that arise for you in your work. Together we can achieve the establishment of healthy boundaries, work-life balance and professional development so that you can continue to give to a society in need.
